Gowns with back lacing were worn from the age of toddlers up to preteens and are appropriate for c. 1750s-1770s. For very young girls an optional pattern piece for leading strings is included. Gowns like this were made of linen, printed cottons, worsted or silk and although hand sewing is preferred supplemental machine sewing instructions are included only where it will not affect the final look of the gown. Each pattern comes with three pattern sizes and it is drafted directly from an original gown in a private collection.
