100% linen, 58" wide
This 1/4" gray and white stripe can be made into men's shirts trousers and women's gowns (usually Negros). In the 1770 Pennsylvania Gazette, "Run away . . . a servant girl . . . had on, and took with her . . . two short loose gowns, the one striped linsey, the other striped linen" as cited in Wenches, Wives and Servant Girls. Either white or unbleached 35/2 linen thread will work well for hand sewing.
