Broadcloth Drab WWV 597

95% wool, 5% nylon, 15-18 oz., 59" wide

Drab broadcloth was another common color used for men's coats, greatcoats, waistcoats, breeches, jackets for women's cloaks. For example "RAN away . . .  a Convict Boy . . .  He had on and took away with him . . .  a drab coloured Jacket and Breeches" advertised in The Virginia Gazette of 1767. Unbleached linen thread 35/2 for hand sewing matches this fabric best. For hand sewing button holes try the beigh quilter's thread or drab buttonhole twist.
