Blue silk as fine as this was used for neck handkerchiefs, and linings. For example in Wenches, Wives and Servant Girls there is an ad from The Pennsylvania Chronicle of 1770 that includes "Absconded from her master’s service . . . an English servant girl . . . Had on and took away with her . . . a black sattin bonnet lined with blue persian".
