Cap Kit, Muslin With Pattern

Basic Muslin Cap Kit

Included in this kit are:
Kannik's Korner Woman's and Girls Caps 1740-1820 Pattern
1/2 yard white book muslin (Italian organdy)
spool of 80/3 white linen thread
1 yard 1/8" wide white cotton tape

The picture shows two layers of book muslin on a brown background. The pattern, spool of thread and cotton tape (provided by instructor) are between the two layers of fabric to show how beautifully sheer this cotton is.

Because this is put together for a class no directions are required. It is recommended you purchase the Kannik's Korner Woman's and Girl's Caps pattern. Almost all caps in this period were made of fine white linen. For example in The New York Gazette in 1775 "Run away . . .  a servant girl . . .  born in Scotland . . .  had on and took with her . . .  three plain muslin caps" Wives, Slaves, and Servant Girls.
