100% Linen, ~5.5 oz., 57" wide
This linen has a natural earthy tannish color. Linen of this weight is good for men's waistcoats, summer suits, jackets, and light coats. It will also work for a woman's gowns, jackets or petticoats. In the book Wenches, Wives and Servant Girls an ad from The Pennsylvania Packet of 1778 includes, "Ran Away a Scotch servant . . . had on and took with her . . . a striped linen short gown, a light coloured ditto". Unbleached 35/2 linen thread will work well for hand sewing this fabric.
