Linen tape, finely woven in a natural color is a strong tape which takes to dyeing when necessary.
Linen tapes sold by the roll are 36 yards (33 m) long. When ordering by the roll you save 10% on 1/4" (6.35) tape, 3/8" (9.5 mm), 1/2" (12.7 mm) and 3/4" (19 mm) tape.
Use the 3/4" (19 mm) for binding the tops of petticoats. It will hold both pleats or a gathered edge well. Allow enough to tie at the sides to close the pocket slits. This may also be used as the binding for the bottoms of linen petticoats.
Use the 1/2" (12.7 mm) for binding pockets and stays.
The 1/4" (6.35 mm) may be used for stay lacing or lacing the backs of breeches.
