1/4″ Vellum Metallic Gold Lace

$10.95

This is real reproduction gold plated lace on a copper thread recreated from what was used on c. 1812 American officer’s coats but is identical to what was used on some British officers coats American Revolution. During the 18th century each officer went to his own tailor for clothing. Therefore there was no regulation officer’s lace. The same gold lace on an officer’s coat could be found on civilian clothing. For example in The Proceedings of the Old Bailey in 1763 a man “was indicted for stealing one waistcoat with gold lace, value 5 s.”
