BCS 100 Pair of Knee Buckles
This buckle was found at Ft. Ticonderoga, New York State Museum. It will accommodate a strap of size 1 1/4″. Some feel fancy knee buckles were only used by the gentry but in 1770 a sailor’s “Sea Chest [was pillaged and] a Pair of flower’d Silver Knee Buckles” were stolen as reported in The Newport Mercury.
