BCS 123 Pair of Shoe Buckles
This shoe buckle will accommodate a relatively smaller strap of up to 1 1/8″. The overall size is 1 1/2″ by 2 7/8″. This is a good size for a women’s shoe or an early 18th century man’s shoe. It is copied from an original from the Upper Hudson River Valley. In The Pennsylvania Gazette in 1770 “Run away . . . a native Irish servant man . . . he was seen in company with . . . an Englishman . . . had on, and took with him . . . new shoes, and a pair of old ditto, with brass buckles”.
