Brass Octagonal Sleeve Buttons, SL-0023
Brass sleeve buttons were used on the sleeves of men’s shirts and women’s shifts of all economic classes and octagonal sleeve buttons are often found at archaeological sites both in America and Europe. A written example may be found in the 1771 Proceedings of the Old Bailey in London where a woman “was indicted for stealing . . . a pair of brass sleeve buttons”.
