This 1/10 inch (2.8 mm) cotton cord is sold by the yard (91 cm).
Made in Japan
Although this is cotton, linen cord of this type is often found as lacing in stays and tying the backs of breeches. For example, there is a trade card from 1757-1758 advertising "stay straps, ferrets & french cord" at William Goodwin, haberdasher, at the Sun & Falcon.
