100% Linen, 6.5 oz, 59" Wide

A common weight of linen was primarily used to make men's shirts. Although more expensive than unbleached, this fabric is appropriate for all economic levels in the 18th century. This linen can also be used to make men's trousers, waistcoats, caps, hat linings, cravats, the tabs of stocks, and jackets, and women's gowns, jackets, petticoats, pockets, and aprons. Cited in personal communication with Mike Barbieri The Connecticut Gazette of 1776 "Ran away . . .  an indented Indian Man Servant . . .  had on when he ran-away a streaked linen Jacket with white linen Cuffs and Cape to it". Hand sewing this fabric would be best done in 35/2 off white linen thread.
