Wool with a full nap on one side is well suited to a man's coat, jacket or breeches or woman's cloak. For example in The New-London Gazette of 1773, "Ran away . . . an Apprentice Boy . . . had on . . . crimson broadcloth Breeches" by personal communication with Mike Barbieri. Claret 35/2 linen thread matches as does crimson quilter's thread for sewing buttonholes.
